Plush was founded in 2000 by Randall Garrett. Originally to be named Magic Bullet, he changed the name after finding the the luxurious sofa pictured above on a trash pile and carting it to the gallery sticking out the back of his red Subaru Justy.

Plush moved into 1404 S. Akard St., just south of downtown Dallas, and along with Purple Orchid (run by Joe Allen) opened on March 18, 2000.

Early shows at Plush featured punk/hardcore bands, skaters, burlesque, fire twirlers, and drag shows alongside great art

In 2002, the first of many moves sent Plush next door to 1410 S. Akard St. More craziness ensued with the opening of Art Star boutique in the back room and a multitude of performances and exhibitions.

Plush v. 4.0 location, at the Manor House

After 1 year at this location, the city closed the building for demolition, and Plush made one more move, to the Manor House at 1222 Commerce St.

Rooftop performances at the Manor House included poetry reading, performance art, and (yes) punk bands

Plush spent 2 years at the Manor House, hosting shows on the 4th floor, and performances on the 25th floor rooftop by the pool.
